Celebrate the 4th of July on Ft. Myers Beach!
If you’re looking for one of the best places in Southwest Florida to celebrate Independence Day, Ft. Myers Beach has you covered! From a hometown parade to patriotic music and one of the Gulf Coast’s most anticipated fireworks displays, there’s something happening all day long.
10:00 AM – Annual 4th of July Parade
The celebration begins with the beloved Ft. Myers Beach Fourth of July Parade, traveling down Estero Boulevard from Bay Oaks Recreation Center to Times Square. Expect colorful floats, local businesses, community organizations, golf carts dressed in red, white and blue, and plenty of island spirit.
4:15 PM – Freedom by the Bay
Head to Bayside Veterans Park for the annual Freedom by the Bay celebration. The afternoon begins with a patriotic ceremony, followed by live music from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Bring a chair, relax by the waterfront, and enjoy a wonderful evening before the fireworks.
9:00 PM – Fireworks Over the Gulf
As darkness falls, thousands gather along the beach near Times Square for the spectacular fireworks display over the Gulf of Mexico. It’s the perfect ending to an unforgettable day on Ft. Myers Beach.
Important Traffic & Bridge Information
If you’re planning to visit the island, plan ahead! The 4th of July is one of the busiest days of the year.
Matanzas Pass Bridge Closures
- 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Closed to oncoming traffic during the parade.
- 8:00 PM – 11:30 PM: Closed to all traffic during the fireworks celebration.
Estero Boulevard Closure
- 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Estero Boulevard will be closed between Donora Boulevard and Old San Carlos Boulevard for the parade.
A Helpful Tip from Leani’s
If you’re coming to the island for the fireworks, arrive early and plan to stay awhile afterward. Thousands of visitors leave immediately following the fireworks, creating heavy traffic at the bridge. Relax, enjoy the beach, grab a bite to eat, or listen to some live music while traffic clears—it makes for a much more enjoyable evening!
